Which is the history of BoL?

The Bonus of Life (BOL) project was initiated in 2017 by Petros as an endeavor to harness the intrinsic value created by human life.

The inspiration for this project emerged from observing the massive participation of thousands of individuals in social networks, where the value produced by each user is transformed into wealth for the network owners.

Many participants in these networks likely do not realize that the wealth amassed by the network owners is derived from their own engagement and presence. Within these digital ecosystems, another category of individuals, known as influencers, emerges. Influencers capitalize on the value generated by their followers, yet the followers themselves often do not benefit from the wealth their participation creates.

This observation led to the conceptualization of a digital currency designed to return value to those who produce it. The aim was to create a currency accessible to every living person, regardless of age, gender, religion, nationality, or other distinctions. This currency would not be centrally owned or distributed but would be generated and claimed autonomously by individuals, free from intermediaries, brokers, or investors.

An algorithm for the automatic production and distribution of the currency was established, alongside simple rules for community operation and currency management, emphasizing equality and transparency. In November 2017, efforts began to implement the algorithm and develop the blockchain platform necessary to support this complex process.

A team of programmers with the requisite expertise was assembled to bring the vision to life. The first developers to undertake the challenging task of implementing BOL were Nick, Spyros, Odysseas, and Vassilis.  By February 2018, the NEO blockchain platform was selected, and the first private NEO chain was launched.

In June 2018, the team expanded to include Fanis, Hambos, and later Nikos and Anastasis, who began developing the code for the new digital currency and creating the smart contract with its demanding and intricate requirements.

The modifications made to the NEO code by Hambos and Fanis were pivotal, transforming it into an independent platform without gas fees for the BOL smart contract, a crucial condition for developing a free global digital currency devoid of owners and investors. To implement the smart contract that would meet BOL’s complex requirements, numerous technical issues needed resolution. Petros, Hambos, and Fanis worked intensively on these challenges, forming the core team for the project’s realization.

Alex, Panos, and Nikos also made significant contributions, completing the BOL code and developing essential wallet applications and other auxiliary tools.

The initial white paper 2018-2019  has been improved in some places in order to increase the security of the system and safeguard personal data.

The implementation of BOL spanned six years, involving many people and developers who contributed their time and expertise. Hambos played a crucial role, developing the majority of the code. All team members worked voluntarily, driven by passion and a commitment to creating an autonomous and independent currency that belongs equally to all people, free from control by owners, financiers, intermediaries, or investors.

The journey of BOL does not end here. It continues with the same determination and enthusiasm from the original creators and all those who believe in the value generated by human life. These individuals strive to highlight and utilize this value for the benefit of all people worldwide.
