Application Privacy Policy

The Boll Wallet application is a mobile app that can be installed on devices running Android and iOS operating systems, as well as on computers with Windows and Mac OS operating systems.

The application is open source, and you can visit the following link to view the code: https://github.com/bol-project/bol-wallet

The application is provided at no cost and is intended for use as is.

You can download it from the Bol website, from the GitHub, and from the Apple Store and Google Play electronic stores. This link is used to inform users about policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if someone decides to use the application.

By choosing to use the application, you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

Collection and Use of Information

The application does not use third-party services that may collect information used to identify you. The application does not collect data and information (via third-party products) on your device called log data, such as your device’s IP address, device name, operating system version, the time and date of your use of the application, and other statistics.

The application is used for:

  1. Creating a new Bol Wallet
  2. Using the Bol Wallet to perform transactions on the Bol blockchain.

To create a new Bol Wallet, you must enter certain personal information and identification documents into the application. These are used to create the encrypted elements that are Codename and EDI with which you will appear and transact in the Bol community.

It is important to know that all information and files you enter into the Bol Wallet application remain on your device and in the location you choose to store them. No file, data, or personal information is transferred or shared with third parties through the application.

The Codename is the identifier of each individual as they appear in the Bol community. It uniquely identifies each person globally and is generated from the individual’s real data through the process of encryption and hashing functions.

To create the Codename, the application will ask you to enter your Nationality, First Name, Surname, date of birth, gender, and National Identification Number (NIN), which are encrypted and hashed using SHA-256 according to the Bol algorithm, This process creates an encrypted string that is the Codename.\

From Codename it is impossible to reproduce the personal information that was encrypted and used in its production

To create the encrypted digital identity (EDI), the application will ask you for information and identification documents such as an identity card or passport, a photo and a voice sample. You can also add additional and other optional documents to create a more powerful EDI, such as a driver’s license, proof of NIN , other identification document, proof of communication, proof of residence. All documents you enter into the application are hashed with 256 and only the hashes are used to create the EDI.

At this point, the application may ask to use your camera for photographing the documents needed and the microphone for recording your voice.

The encrypted digital identity (EDI) is used to identify and certify the authenticity of each member. You solely own and manage all the files and documents used to create the EDI. No one else can obtain or reproduce these using the EDI.

Upon completing the creation of the new wallet, you can download and store the created files in another secure location. You will need these files only for your authentication in the Bol community, which is done outside the application. You can remove your documents and information from the application at any time.

The second function of the Bol Wallet application is to use it to perform your transactions on the Bol blockchain.

To perform the transactions  on the blockchain, the application does not need the files and personal documents. It only uses the wallet.json file, which includes the Codename, EDI, and the private and public keys used to execute and sign transactions. If you use the application with the digital identity function, then you will need to load some of the files you used to create the wallet, such as the photo and recorded voice.
